In these turbulent times, Loella’s calm leadership style as mayor has been essential.

Leadership we can count on
As this year’s Mayor, I’ve proven I have the experience, commitment, and professional credentials to lead our community through unprecedented times and toward a stronger, more resilient future for all.
In my eight years of leadership as a councilmember, we’ve accomplished much: The All-Abilities Playground, the Lesher Center outdoor stage, significant sustainability programs, increased roadway funding, safer walk-bike routes for schoolchildren, expanded senior transportation options, additional open space, expanded homeless services, more affordable housing units, a strategic economic development plan, and the community-based “Your Parks, Your Future” work to modernize our aging recreation facilities.
Currently, I lead the Rebound Project, helping businesses re-open as we transition through the COVID-19 crisis.
As the only councilmember with a professional financial background, I’ve championed fiscal decisions to ensure Walnut Creek’s future. Key among these, we established a pension trust to buffer the impact of rising pension costs, implemented a robust 10-year financial forecast, and increased our reserves, enabling us to weather the economic hit of COVID-19.
My priorities include:
Rebuilding and enhancing our economy
Exploring and implementing modern initiatives for public safety
Revitalizing arts, recreation and library programs
Preserving our quality of life while addressing local housing needs
Ensuring our City’s strong financial future
Through this year of tremendous change, one thing remains constant--my faith in this community. Walnut Creek truly does work together. I am proud to provide leadership you can count on and I ask for your vote.
